BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company developing products for the treatment of female sexual health, today announced results of a survey of over 100 Obstetrician/Gynecologists and Primary Care Physicians regarding the need for an FDA-approved drug to treat a form of Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD).

It's terrific news that there may be some help for HSDD in the general population, but there has been a general consensus among most oncologists that testosterone is contraindicated in breast cancer patients, especially we who have estrogen receptor positive tumors. I think we will need far more research into the use of testosterone before concluding that it will be safe for us to use. My doctors all have advised strongly against it, even with the concurrent use of an aromatase inhibitor to prevent conversion to estrogen.
