Friends,
I thought I'd share with you some good news. Before I started treatment in July, I had my first CEA blood test. The normal range is [0-5.0]. My number was 599.1. Last Friday, eight weeks into treatment, that number dropped to 30.6. My doctor's office believes this to be dramatic. She also cannot palpate the tumors anymore, and says I am going in the absolute right direction. Still, my first scans will be done on 8 October, and I suppose I should lighten the load of anxiety by accepting these numbers as good news.

Sorry, that wasn't clear. I thought this was a standard test everyone knew about. Thanks for clarifying for those who didn't know. This test is used to guage whether a protocol is effective or not.

Karen,
What great news! I'm routing for you and hope you continue the positive response to treatment. I remember relishing ever little positive step that I took. I had neoadjuvant chemo so they tracked my progress with an ultrasound. As you can see from my signature, I had a large tumor.
Celebrate your success and keep up the good work. Sending prayers your way.
