Can anyone here refer me to a breast specialist/surgeon in the Southern Ca area that they have been extermely happy with? Closer to Orange County if possible. I want to avoid driving hrs away if possible. I've asked my PCP, and several other doctors I have seen for a referral to another breast surgeon other then the one I have and they all say they will get back to me and don't. Time is going by...I need to see one now.

If you don't want to post online...pls feel free to PM or send it to my email address. Thanks so much.

Chelee,

I love my breast surgeon - Dr. Lawrence Wagman at the Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment affiliated with St. Joseph Hospital. You probably remember that I followed him from COH to this new cancer center where he is the Medical Director. His number is (714) 835-8300. I have also heard good things about Dr. Michelle Carpenter, also at the center. I am not so happy with my medical onc that I changed to and will be looking for someone new soon.

Hope this helps.

Gerri,
Thank YOU so much. I will be making an appt with him first thing tomorrow. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get in--that's an easy drive for me. Again...thank you. :)

Chelee, Just wondering ...have you ever been on the tykerb/herceptin combo? I recall you met with Dr. Slamon (how awesome) and discussed the option...Ceesun

Ceesun,
No I haven't been on Tykerb/Herceptin yet. I'm pretty sure that will be my next choice if the Femara quits working.

Dr. Slamon discussed the Tykerb/Herceptin and T-DM1 with me. Two excellent choices. Right now I'd like to get into T-DM1 but that's not looking very good at the moment. I am pretty sure Tykerb/Herceptin will be my next course of trt. Seems to work very well especially on someone like myself that is highly Her2 pos...and highly Er pos. Dr. Slamon said he did not want me on chemo. But I'm pretty sure he doesn't want anyone on chemo anymore...he as you all know is for targeted therapy...he's the "man". :)

Hi Chelee:
I LOVE the surgeons at the Joyce Keefer Breast Center, St, John's, Santa Monica. Dr. Armando Giuliano and Dr. Chung. I know that's not as close as you'd like...also they are surgeons, not oncologists. Also recommended is Silvana Martino, oncologist, in Los Angeles.
Good luck

Linda and Cal Gal...thanks for both referrals...I still might need them. It's nice to have 2nd and 3rd opinions. Hoag Hospital is easy to get too...so I might check that one out too. I'll make the calls Monday and see which doctor can get me in the quickest. I've been put off so long I want this taken care of. So thanks to all of you. Lots of choices and all within driving distance. I so appreciate it.
