Type:
Lecture
Summary:
Join Clifford Hudis, MD, Chief of Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Breast Cancer Medicine Service, for a comprehensive discussion of breast cancer -- on topics ranging from biology, prevention, diagnosis, prognostication, and management, to adjustment to life after treatment.
Our understanding of and treatments for breast cancer have undergone major changes in the past decade. This is due, in part, to remarkable increases in our understanding of the basic machinery of cancer cells leading to improved treatments. Coupled with substantial advances in the technology of detection, therapy, and survivorship, we have more to offer patients than ever before and more patients survive the disease.
This explosion of new knowledge regarding the molecular basis of cancer not only is of use right now but promises truly dramatic advances in the future.
In this interactive, open lecture and forum, we will have an opportunity to discuss this progress in the context of real-life issues regarding not only disease but the maintenance of health.
