Can bone mets show up anywhere in the body?
I hear certain areas mentioned but wondered
if they could appear anywhere? Thanks for any
assistance. I just have a sore (sitz bone).

Pat,

I hope someone answers you about this. I do not know anything about bone mets.

Take care, Catherine

I have heard about them in many different places. Personally, I have had them show up on my C3 neck bone, my iliac crest (right rear pelvic bone) and the boney structure that protects my pituitary known as the sella turcica. None of my bone mets have ever been symptomatic, but we have always found them when they are really small. Hope this helps.

Thanks Brenda, that does help. I do have symptoms
of something in the ischial tuberosity area which
is all part of the pelvic region? I will have it checked
out because it is becoming uncomfortable to sit or
exercise. It might be the arimidex but I don't know
that. Thanks.

Sally,

Did you find them with bone scan? How did you find all of your bone mets?

Mine at C3 and on rt rear iliac crest were found on PET/CT and confirmed by MRI which we needed for more accurate measurement. The one in the infundibulum/sella turcica was found on brain MRI.

We haven't done bone scans since I was dxed with recurrence, as we follow me regularly (3-6 mo.) with PET/CT of the torso and regularly (3 mo) with MRI of the brain, which basically render bone scans unnecessary because those two scans pretty well show us everything we need to see.
