Hi gang,
After MUCH anxiety and anticipation I received the results of my post cryosurgery/chemo PET/CT.

YEA!!!! I am back to NED.

What a relief. I immediately celebrated with a goopy, sticky Cinnabun. I've been watching everything I eat so closely that I enjoyed every last bit of carmel.

The game plan is to continue on with the Abraxane for another 3 cycles. The abraxane has been so tolerable that I am not viewing that as a big deal.

Honestly, I am really surprised. I have this constant burning sensation in my stomach that the Dr. thinks has nothing to do with my liver and all I need to do is take a tums once in a while. That...I can do.

I am so pleased that maybe the Cryosurgery is a good option for us liver mets gals as I wonder if it jump started the processes of killing the cancer cells so that Abraxane could do a better job. Such a crazy crap shoot...Again, I'll never know.

I am going to add my cryosurgery experiences to an old thread that was started back in 2006 which said cryosurgery could be used for pain relief and in the future (2009...so I'm in the future now) it might possibly be used for actual treatment. The cryo was NOT a big deal and I am so pleased to be able to share what could be a useful alternative to others on the site.

Off for a WONDERFUL weekend.

Lori,

Great news about freezing out your liver met.

Cyroablation is related to radiofrequency ablation. They're both done by interventional radiologists. I was very happy with my lung RFA for the recurrent tumor until a fungus grew in the cavity left by the ablation and I had to have extensive lung surgery and another wedge resection to remove it because antifungal medication wasn't working. But with the liver, that's not a problem. The fungus in my lung grew from a common fungus in the soil (aspergillus) that I inhaled, and it took hold in the cavity. It's not a common occurence.

The path report from my recent surgery showed no cancer, only the fungus, so the RFA seemed to be working.

Cheers,

Joan
