Did you know that Arimidex is used by some men as a supplement for bodybuilding? Due to the limited availability and high cost, it is a much desired product on the black market.
I came across this while watching The Wrestler. I was so surprised!
Didn't watch the entire movie. Not my kind...

Maryanne,
I was unaware of it until the baseball scandal which occured over the winter: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4105353
Apparently, this over the counter AI is supposed to increase testosterone by blocking estrogen. I guess he thought it would be a "work around" for the banned steriods, but it still triggered a positive test.
There is also an abstract from the current ASCO that discusses changes in body mass in women on AI's : http://www.abstract.asco.org/AbstView_65_32202.html which I think would make these designer drugs in Hollywood. If the overall effect is to maximize a decrease in fat and an increase in lean body mass, this would help an athlete develop muscle power as well.
The scariest thing to me is that 6 OXO Extreme is out there at your local GNC and other vitamin stores with no FDA approval or control. Those of us who take these drugs know how powerful they are and can discuss side effects with our docs.

Does this mean I should be thinner on an AI---because if so, it ain't happenin'!

I guess I better keep an eye on my son - not just to admire his build! :-)

Rhonda,
There was another ASCO abstract about that which I posted in the Meeting Highlights Forum this morning:

Sassy, I was just thinking the same thing!!! Hope those athletes aren't pinning their hopes on arimidex, 'cause it isn't doing much to improve my physique!!! If my insurance costs go any higher I may have to sell some to supplement...!!!
