GOOD NEWS!!..... at last! :-))

Dearest friends sorry I haven't been around - I have been in and out of Palliative Care - and finally got some GOOD NEWS just before Christmas!

The 6 brain metastases I had in my brain have ALL GONE!! Can you believe it? I can hardly believe it myself! I think they found them in September - I went for my 2 weeks of whole brain radiation, and then returned home to commence Xeloda/Tykerb. Just before Xmas - while in PC - I had a catscan and found those mets in my brain have disappeared!!

Which is so good - as the day before they were talking about ceasing treatment as it was making me SO sick - nausea, vomitting, diarrohea - and if they did that I would probably have 2 months to live!!!!!?? SO thank God for the catscan.... and thank God for your prayers and support.

It is amazing as since I was diagnosed this time with the cancer returning HER2 - about August last year I have had nothing but bad reports... cancer spread to my hip, ribs, lung, brain... and no treatment seemed to be helping at all.

So I got to spend Xmas/New year at home with my hubby and beautiful bubbas ~
miracles do happen eh?

Now I'll wait to see the Oncologist in about 1 week - as they have ceased the Xeloda and reduced the Tycerb a little - so I'll have to see how I go on that.

Oh my, oh my.... you are ~ each and everyone of you ~ such generous Spirits. Thanks so much for sharing in my joy.

As to the other mets Steph - the ones in my ribs have all reduced to less than 1cm each! SO it is all good news - with no other changes.

Im not quite sure which part of the treatment has produced this great result - the WBR, Xeloda or Tycerb so we'll just see how I go without the Xeloda and slightly reduced Tycerb.

It all means more time with my hubby and my gorgeous miracles.

I hope we all can receive news of hope and joy in this coming year.

Hermiracles - I am so thrilled by your post. I had worried and wondered how you were doing. When my onc took me off Xeloda, he added back in Herceptin with my Tykerb... and it is doing a fabulous job so far. Can they do that for you? (infusion every 3 wks and 4 pills of Tykerb every day).

This is such wonderful news. I have tears in my eyes reading your message, Marilyn. You are truly an inspiration to me. I just got word from my onc on Monday that I also have 6 small spots on my brain. I have been feeling angry, terrified and worried all week. Reading your message gives me hope that it is possible to kick these little buggers right where they belong. I've started on Tykerb right away and am waiting to hear back from the experts at UCSF as to whether Gamma Knife or WBR is the better course here.
