Thank you all so much for your love and concern...still fighting off the pneumonia...I never thought it would last so long and make me so tired. I go again Tuesday to see if I can get my chemo....I hope I am well enough as the lump in my neck has doubled after just missing the last few treatments....last time all they gave me was herceptin and extra IV fluids. I am so tired of being so tired....When I am too sick to be on the Her2 board, I know i am sick....I have missed so much over the last few weeks....I need to catch up a little each day...my husband is now sick, although he doesn't seem to have it as bad....I guess his immune system is much better...
Again thank you for all your prayers, thoughts and love...I can feel it all the way to Illinois!

Sheila, I'm so relieved to hear you are feeling at least a little better.
Hope you are able to get treated this week - I know you want to be taking stronger action against the growing node. And it must be especially frustrating to make that long journey only to be turned away. I know how I felt when I was sent home with empty veins (no DM1); I was so upset I was crying - and this while feeling otherwise quite well. I would have crumbled completely in your situation - but you are made of much sterner stuff than I. Or maybe it's just being out of Illinois so long has made me soft.
Remember, its a delicate balance between getting the medicines to fight the cancer and marshaling your own resources to do so. Keep putting yourself #1 - you need to focus on your own rest and recovery and not feel like you need to be babying your hubby. Although I'm sure he would appreciate it, his deepest priority is still for YOU to be well.
I wish I could be there (frigid weather and all) to make you a nice big pot of chicken soup.
Take good care, my dear Sheila

Just a quick update, I went to Chicago yesterday for my chemo, and once again I was running a low grade temp...my counts had improved but I was still coughing just not as bad. My onc. is on vacation out of the country, so 2 other onc. put their heads together and ordered a Stat CT scan. The scan showed that their was no fluid or pneumonia left in my lungs, a small amount of collapse on the left lower lobe, but my mediastinal nodes were all enlarged and axillary under the right arm...hoping this is from the virus I have had, the oncologist, who is DonnaD's oncologist and a real sweetheart, decided to let me get my chemo again, so no need for makeup today, I have the Taxol glow! I am just going to enjoy the faint shadow of eyebrows while I have them, as I am sure they will retreat now that i'm back on Taxol. The nurses said after 6 weeks of being off, I will probably lose my hair (all 3/4 in of it) again, so I was given a script for another wig....glass that my insurance is generous enough to allow 1 wig per year!
It was a 10 hour day and I'm glad its over. I will know more in 2 weeks when I see my regular oncologist, until then, thank you all for all your prayers and thoughts, you have truly lifted me up.
I am now going to seit and view my CTs from the disc!

Sheila, glad you are feeling better and were able to get back to your treatment. I had my glow day yesterday as I had my treatment Monday. I have a bit of a short buzzcut left from when they stopped my treatment for a month. It is slowly receding and getting thinner. I am hoping to make it through the cold with some fur, but if not I will do the doorag thing. Can you really understand those scans? I get a copy of mine on cd and I have no idea what the heck I an looking at. Hang in there girl, things seem like they are on an upward trend.

Shelia,
I am glad you are feeling better also. I understand about the eyebrows too. I haven't had any chemo in eight weeks tomorrow.

Only we would be cheering a 10 hour day, steroid glow and hair loss! Sheila, how fortunate that you had the support and proactivity of the other great doctors there to make the decisions you needed to have made. Don't let a little bit of feeling better and a pneumonia free ct scan make you get too cocky - please continue to give yourself permission to rest and recover.
We'll keep the prayers going...
