~Clinical Trials For Men~Having Problems Finding Them

Any suggestions for clinical trials for men?? I am finding it more and more difficult as time goes by. Men are usually not qualified for these studies. This is something I would like to change when I march on the Whitehouse lawn!! Ugghh! I am not sure what route to go if we need a trial but need to research it now.

Hey Marie, are you looking for trials specifically for men, or any that accept male participants? Both of the trials I've been in were open to both. I agree, in this day and age the idea that anyone would be excluded because of gender is crazy.

You may have already tried this but go to:

http://www.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials/search

There is a category for breast cancer, male and then if you put in your zip code it will bring up all the trials. I tried it with a Providence zipcode and there seemed to be 4 pages of them but I don't know if any of them would be helpful to your husband.

From what I could find, (last year when I was looking for my Lyle), it is because of the 'numbers'. The relatively small (compared to woman) number of men with bc is problematic when trying to assemble enough men for a trial.

Though, it has been done. And continues to be done. But, just not as many nor as encompassing as trials with women.
