Gustov hit pretty hard here in Baton Rouge, it is considered the worst hurricane to hit the Baton Rouge area, we had wind gusts of 100 mph, stronger than hurricane Betsy. Most of the city is still witout electricity and it may be a week or longer, some out lying areas may be 4 to 6 weeks they are saying. We have a generator so have basic electricity and it runs a small window air unit in our bedroom, it is HOT down here also. Our subdivision was hit the hardest in Baton Rouge, it was on the news. We have a lot of old oak trees in our neighboorhood and a lot of them fell on houses and blocking roads and on electrical lines. Personally, we had the siding ripped off the side of our house, roof damage and we had a huge palm tree fall in our swimming pool, which is the bummer because swimming is my stress reliever,,,.lol..it could be much worse. There are very few businesses open and those that are, have lines that are hours long, gas is scarse and the city is under an 8 o'clock curfew. It should get better in the upcoming days, if that other storm Ivan doesn't hit us...just wanted to keep you all posted. ...sherryg683

Thanks for the update. I saw Baton Rouge on the news
and how bad it was. I always watch the Hurricanes as
I live in Naples Fl. in the winter. Glad you are ok and
hope you will have power soon. It looks like they are
lining up in the Atlantic. Take care.

Sherry,
I saw that you guys took the brunt of the storm...I am so sorry for everyone thats been affected,..but as you said it could have been worse. After Katrina, and when i got home to Biloxi, I got into a conversation w the phone company linesperson (who happened to be a woman) who was working my neighborhood,,,I told her I was in treatment etc etc & she made it her mission to get our neighborhood on a generator to run the phone lines within 2 days! I was absolutely thrilled and couldnt have been more grateful for that act of kindness. I hope that you are able to get the basics going ...be safe Ms Sherry!
Hugs,Marcia (Soccermom)

I am wishing Ike away...
