View Full Version : I'm finally home!

I finally arrived home this afternoon.

I had the procedure very early on Thursday, and since my lung did collapse and a tube had to be inserted I didn't come home on Friday as originally planned.

It took a few days of being on both dry suction and then on wet suction, and then back to a dry suction to get the lung to stay inflated. All is now well, although I admit I'm a little nervous that my lung could pop if I breathe too hard.

I have minimal discomfort. The top of my left arm and shoulder hurts. The worst was when the drain was removed by a neophyte on the thoracic service. (I was followed mostly by thoracic attendees since interventional radiology really doesn't have a staff in the same way that thoracic (or gastrointestinal) has. I was admitted and discharged under the thoracic service. The person who actually performed the radiofrequency ablation and who I follow up with was not even listed on anything.)

My next step is a follow-up x-ray and office visit. Then I have to find out the plan for general follow up, which will probably be with PET/CTs and done through the interventional radiology office.

Your support gave me a lot of courage and I'm so happy and grateful to have found this community!

Hi Joan,
It's so good to hear that you are home and fine. I was sorry to hear about the lung collapse. It is also my fear. I hope that you receive good results from your scans.

So glad the procedure is over and you are home.
So sorry about the lung collapse, is this something
that just something that might happen with the
procedure you had? Take care and rest and enjoy.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to relax for a few days and then it's back to work on Thursday.

There's a 28% of a lung collapse with RFA. I was hoping to get by, but it wasn't in the cards. In any case, I'm glad the procedure is behind me and I hope my follow-up scan shows good results.
