Just don't want anyone to worry if I don't check in everyday... I am off for basically "a trip of a lifetime" - setting my sights on the French and Italian Rivieras, as well as 2 days in my favorite city in the whole world, Heidelberg Germany (to reminisce about my childhood there and also scatter some of my dad's ashes) and then to Paris for 2 days to pick up our 10 year old franco/american niece and bring her home with me for 6 weeks... whew. It should be a doozy.

Vivian Vavoom will check in when she gets to St. Tropez!

See you on July 2, if not a quick glance in from time to time before that...

Take care my friends. Keep fighting the good fight, and as Mae West said:

"You only get one life, but if you do it right, one is all you need..."

Vivian:

Say it aint so. You may be the key to solving the murder of Danny Vavoom. I guess we'll have to muddle by without you.

Actually, have the time of your life! Take big bites! Drive like you stole that car! Dive in head first! Moderation is for monks!

Dear "Valerie" -
Wish I could join you, but my dance card here is just TOO full for a getaway now.

When you get to St. Tropez, would appreciate if you took time to relax at one of those dockside outdoor cafes and have a Champagne Kir for me while you gape at the amazing yachts parked there.

You very well could see several women with too-tight faces carrying their little pomeranians while trying to avoid them licking off all their makeup. (Might poison the little furballs anyway.) Be on the lookout for suspicious people (maybe gypsies) following any of them and warn them if you feel one of their precious pooches could be in danger.

TA TA for now! Ciao.

Expecting photos galore, though I'd really rather have had you equipped with a head mounted video camera; so that I could be there every minute to see the sights with ya! Awesome! Way to go! ma

Brenda, sounds like a wonderful trip, full of memories too. I won't be surprised to see some interesting new stories from Vivian...but of course you run the risk that in the meantime people may make up some of their own!

Hucklebuck, you have a great trip! We'll be here holding down the fort until you get back. Have a great time paddling around on the Swedish Riviera.

So, the internet on the "yacht" was not terribly efficient and pretty pricey (to say the least) so I have been forced to go incommunicado for the last 8 days!! Actually, I was forced to have a REAL vacation, no news, no internet, no phone. Weird. But really relaxing.

I am in Garches for the next 2 days. It is a western suburb of Paris (next to St Cloud) where my brother-in-law lives. I screwed up and didn't buy my train ticket to Germany in time, so it got really expensive and not very worth it for only 36 hours, so that will be another trip for another day. (Yippee!) It's not the end of the world to be "stuck" in Paris for a few days. Weather is wonderful (62-80 degrees) and partly sunny. A nice break from the heat of the riviera... HOT and humid, but AMAZING! I took so many pics I can probably open a photo gallery. We rented scooters in Cannes, St Tropez (which we fell in LOVE with and I plan to move to-yeah right-, anyone want to come?), and Portofino. Saw Prince Albert in Monte Carlo, took a train from Livorno to Pisa and Siena one day... then rode bikes on Isla d'Elba to the beach. I am tanner than I have been in 20 years. It feels good to be a euro-beach bum...

Whew. I need a vacation from my vacation. The boat was wonderful (Seabourn Legend) and we fell in love with our crew. Most of them were S. African except for one from Brittany, one from Poland, one from Switzerland and one from Romania, and I wanted to bring them all home...I miss them. All sweethearts and really spoiled us.

More later. Thanks for all of your well-wishes. Vivian has a tale or two to tell. Now that she has her wifi connect and cell phone again, and is well rested, maybe she can stay out of the tabloid headlines!
