View Full Version : Any Interest - Emergency Phone Number?
We have had several scares when members suddenly disappear for no reason. Most of the time they turned out to be false alarms.
I think a solution may be the ability to place an emergency contact phone number on your User CP which would be viewable only by Christine or Myself.
The phone number can be of a family member, good friend or anyone that you designate that would be aware of your whereabouts.

Joe
Christine and I are off tomorrow to the Oncology Nursing Society Meeting in Philadelphia. We will return Sunday. Hopefully we will convince the nurses to inform their patients of this website.
This sounds like a good idea Joe. Let us know if you will go forward with it so we can update our User CP - I am assuming you would have a new option for the emergency phone number to select there.
I hope you and Christine have a successful time in Philly at the Onc. Nurses Conference. I don't know why they wouldn't advise their patients of this wonderful website.
Thanks again for all you and Christine do, you both are angels on earth.
all the best

This is a great idea for all of us who become close to people on an on line support group like this. In the case of my friend Darra who passed recently, we had known each other for three years almost on another site. I had her phone number but as she had recently left her husband I, and her other e mail friends only discovered her death when we went looking for info and found her obituary which was heartbreaking as you can imagine.
There's nothing worse than imagining the worse when some one goes "missing " for a while.
Have a good trip Joe and thanks for the suggestion!

Hi Joe,
I think an emergency number is a great idea. Let me know if, and when this is in place. I know there are times when we just drop out for awhile but it would be nice hearing from someone when this is not the case.

Hi Joe - thanks for this great idea! I would be very happy for my own and/or my hubby's phone number to be available. The only thing with me is that seeing I'm in Australia it is probably easier and quicker to contact me by email or PM.
I haven't been posting at all really lately - just taking some space to come to terms with some 'things', within myself http://her2support.org/vbulletin/images/icons/icon11.gif
The other thought I had was that maybe someone other than you or Christine could be the person nominated to contact people if necessary ~ you already both do so much for the group ~ maybe nice if someone else could help out.
Thanks so much
Blessings

Yes, Joe! Name # and email address.
I would give you Paul, DH, and my two daughters.
I have told all three that I plan on celebrating my 100th birthday one day, but just in case -- they are to remember to notify this beloved site.
