OKAY....I'VE BEEN ON TYKERB A WEEK. I HAVE HAD THE "FUN RUN" SEVERAL TIMES THIS WEEK...A FEW TRIPS TO THE BATHROOM AND THEN I SEEM TO BE OKAY FOR THE DAY. TODAY I GET UP AND I SEE A SMALL RASH "WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE". I HAVE HYDROCORTISONE BUT WOULD LIKE OTHER OVER THE COUNTER SUGGESTIONS. I REALLY DON'T WON'T TO CALL THE DOCTORS OFFICE---AFRAID HE WILL WANT TO SEE IT. BUT, DOES THIS MEAN I NEED THE DOSAGE CHANGED---I AM TAKING 5 PILLS A DAY. I KNOW I SHOULD BE OVER ANY SHYNESS ABOUT LETTING MY DOCTOR SEE MY BODY.......BUT I'M NOT.

Hi - am not exactly sure what to say except sometimes a rash is a favorable sign and it would be good to tell your doctor even if you say you don't want to show the rash. If it is not a rash but an irritation from the runs - try desitin. Works wonders. Believe me doctors are somewhat desensitized when it comes to looking at bodies. Hopefully they just want to evaluate and help us.

There are a couple of places where the sun doesn't shine... just wondering which one, LOL. Here's an idea, do you have a female GYN or dermo? Maybe go to one of them to assess and then let them explain it to your onc.

I called my female GYN last month about something I was really flustered and embarrassed about (since my onc has sorta become like a big brother to me, there are a couple of things that I feel weird talking to him about - like he would laugh at me in a teasing big brother kind of way...) and she knew exactly what it was and put my mind at ease. Whew. Thank goodness for her.

Just an idea.

I was on tykerb for about a week when a small rash showed up on my chest. It didn't bother me at first but a week later it spread all over and started to itch (it was like having hundreds of mosquito bites all over). I had to come off of tykerb (still itching after 4 days off!). If it clears up will probably try to get on the tykerb again and hope maybe my body can tolerate it better! I was having the stomach upset but could handle that okay until this rash showed up!

Just wondered if your rash spread at all?

Have not been on Tykerb, but developed all sorts of problems due to constipating pain-killers during initial treatment. If it is your rear end (digestive wise as opposed to liquid or sex), you can get Rx 2.5% Hydrocortisone or a spray called Proctofoam (HC and Pramoxine). Also you can get Rx 1% Lidocaine ointment to relieve the pain. All Rx, though. Even OTC Preparation H helps me. Get the shark oil kind, or the HC. Try both and see what works. Kept getting irritated with Desitin, turns out there is aloe in most of them ( very allergic to aloe-ha!, talk about fun and games). If you buy original A&D, be careful, 15% Lanolin, not the thing if you are sensitive to wool. Do a patch test of anything you are gonna smear down there on another rashy site first.
