I had posted on Friday about the 60 min. program on Sunday and I hope that most were able to view it...as it proved to be exciting.

Recently Bill posted about a collective cure for bc..and I was thinking about this for a vew days and when I viewed the 60 min. show I could not stop considering the fact that cancer cells are just this - A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing....

When considering that our bodies make trillions of cells each day, for fat, skin, bones, etc. and it only takes one tiny shift to occur in the DNA to create a mutation and a cell can go haywire. If we consider the fact that a cell begins to go haywire, but also retains some or parts of the appearance of a normal cell, maybe this is how it fools our immune system to believe it is a normal cell and does not get destroyed. Since our bodies are always making trillions of cells it maybe imppossible to cure cancer at the root. Now this new invention is surly a strong hope in progress, it will track down only those cancer cells regardless of how they trick the immune system.

Hi Jean, you make me even more sorry that I missed that episode. I haven't watched any TV in a long time, but that sounds like a really good one. I've got to do more homework.

Jean and everyone else...Didn't see the show, but as you said, "Each day we get a little bit closer." This conference has been a huge eye opener for me, and I am very excited by all that is happening. At times it is a little overwhelming, and I pray my chemo brain can remember half of what I've learned and heard.
The best part for me has been meeting the men and women that not only invented and perfected the drugs that have kept me and so many others alive, but the people that are working on the new stuff that is coming up. Like Steph mentioned in another post, these people are excited to tell us about there work. No one talks down to us. They realize that we understand our disease and that all of us are just as excited about what they are doing as they are themselves. Somethings are in the very early stages and probably shouldn't be mentioned until they are further along in their studies. Please know that many of the treatments being discussed are less or non-toxic. This excites me immensely because people receiving treatments down the line won't get leukemia from chemo like I did. I certainly don't want that happening to anyone else again. One diease is enough, but two just isn't right!!! Lots of talk about different vaccines...there is soooo much. I think it will take Steph and I several days/ weeks to post everything we've learned. Steph is so great. She's got info on upcoming trials. we are really tired and still have a half a day to go, so please be patient. I'm gonna take a nap before bed - lol!! Love to all...

Madame Dubois, everytime I read your posts and the posts by Steph and Joe regarding your trip, just like everyone else has said here, we can feel the excitement and energy coming from you all. I wish I was there!

Hi Bill (and all...) - I want you feel the excitement, because everyone is always complaining about where the money is going. we are seeing first hand where it's going and want everyone else to know that exciting things ARE happening!! I've been to many symposiums and "ask the expert" meetings and they are great, but this is like a sneak peak behind the curtains. Joe and Christine went home or out to dinner, Steph went out with friends that live in the area and I am VERY happily in my pj's waiting for room service. It's 7:30 and I am ready for bed. Did I mention we went to a Genetech party last night at the Omni (raise eyebrow here). It was on the balcony of the 6th floor with an outdoor fireplace and a pool. It was really nice, but I just can't do that 2 nights in a row. Dinners here....later!

Mary Ann,
You are an angel for posting while doing so much at the conference.
It is so very exhausting, I understand, one has to experience it to really understand. It is truly over the top.

Also, just recently I was mentioning how to the point and direct the top men are, they are happy to explain and are eager to speak about theedge material. They are just amazing! They are positive, brave and so encouraging. I just loved the photos and if you see my friend Dr. Slamon again, please give him a huge hug for me.
