Thank you Caya - I am fine.

I've been playing Scrabble on Facebook but
always check in to see how everyone is doing.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Hi Mimi
Everyone seems to like that picture of me
but I feel like I'm "living a lie". That's not
what I really look like now. That's what
I wish I looked like.

The pic was taken during the 3 weeks between
my biopsy and mastectomy. So that is my real
hair before chemo. My hair is the same colour
now but a few inches shorter. I am also a lot
fatter :(

crazy how we long for pieces of ourself that we once new and liked?
This is just so wierd to be looking in the mirror and sort of recognizing the person looking back. She's changed and now she's a whole lot greyer...lol
wonder if the stuff men put on thier beards(you know to rid the grey)would work on 2mm hair growth...lol

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_209.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk788MNUS) Pinky,
I love your current picture too. I just noticed your age (part of your signature). I don't believe it. You look like a teeny bopper! I'm around your age and look old enough to be your mother. I think I've aged 15 years in the last 15 months, my hair is much grayer (than before dx) and I have gained almost 50 pounds to boot during this time period! Whenever I look in the mirror now, I always say "Who are you? And what did you do with Joanne?".

Hugs,
Jo

Thank you very much Joanne. I've received so many compliments on that picture that I'm thinking I should change it. I don't look like that anymore. I agree with Mimi - I think I was longing for some piece of my former self!

I also gained a ton of weight - started gaining while
I was on taxol and then continued to gain through
the herceptin and now I am blaming it on the arimidex.
Although I am not as active as I used to be, I certainly
can't eat the way I used to - the weight comes on very
easily now. But .... I am determined to lose some of it, I
just don't know when :)

If I can find someone with a wide-angle lens I will take
a current picture of myself and post it!!!

Yes Marie, I am so looking forward to seeing Tiptoe again.
I have had so much fun with this - hope everyone else
has enjoyed it as much as I have. I know Marlys does!!!

Lady Pink, please come back to us when you can. I know you love to garden. I guess in a few months your weather will allow you to get out and start working the soil, huh? I've gotta start getting my stuff ready and figuring out what I'm going to plant and how much. Then in the "play room" ie- Keeping your mind off of BC, later in the summer/fall we need to start the "canning" thread, right? Love ya, Bill

Uh oh, Dumb***, me, I just remembered that most of us should avoid home-canned products, as per the oncs. right? Sorry, my nickname at work in late fall is, "the Pickler"

PinkGirl

That's exactly right Bill. I will be able to
start working the soil in a couple of months.

Pink and Joanne, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one blossoming. I choose to look at it this way---there are times its seems like there is not enough of me to go around---so I'm making more!

Sassy,

Blossoming works for me. It has a nice, pleasant ring to it.

I also like "ewes not fat, ewes just fluffy".

Friends are giving me fridge magnets - "I never met
a calorie I didn't like" .... "If God had meant for us
to be thin, He wouldn't have created chocolate" ...

Someone (a good friend) sent me a picture of a
huge donkey with his head in the fridge - caption:
"if you want to lose weight, keep your fat a$$ out
of the fridge".

I like "blossoming".

My sisters-in-law gave me a pillow at Christmas that says,

"Dear God, if you can't make me skinny, please make my friends fat."

We were all having to wear our "Big Girl" jeans at the time.

Ample is another word I like.

Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut here, but I can't. Alot of women worry about putting on weight, but in my opinion, that does not affect your beauty. We all age, men included, and put on weight, and get beat up by Life, and accumulate scars, and we all get tired and worn down by what we have to deal with, but then as each new Day dawns, we arise to fight the battles of the day. I see the beauty in your smiles, and shining in your eyes, and I can "hear" the girlish giggles in your voices. Please don't fret too much about the weight thing. You are all gorgeous. Love, Bill

Sassy,
"Ample" works for me too. Your choice of words is
so much more kind than mine. I have to refrain from
calling myself a big fat pig, a buffalo, you'd need a
forklift to get me off the couch - that kind of stuff.
I like your words better and I like that picture of your
son wearing your wig - it suits him!!!

Thank you Bill for your input. I think weight is a big
issue for women and for us it's an accumulation of all
of the changes to our bodies from surgeries and
treatments. But you are right - no sense in beating
ourselves up over it. I'm still trying to lose some of
it as requested by my skinny oncologist :)

You are beautiful and I can not see anything more then that beautiful smile when I look at your pictures. That is what I see when I look at everyone's pictures on this board.... a group of lovely ladies (and gentlemen) who are so brave and strong and have so much sense of humor.

This is an amazing thing and I love each and everyone one of you.

Never lose that funny sense of humor Pinky my friend.

I am sure you look marvelous...your smile says it all, not to mention your smart a** comments! I actually traced my journey with the weight thing...and i have gained 40# since starting Herceptin, Chemo, Steroids etc....I can so relate, but as long as my thighs aren't chaffing, I feel there is still a chance to drop some....I myself like it when peopls say "you look healthy"....oh yeah, like an ironwoman competitor....but then on the other side, there is so much chocolate and so little time! I can still buy my clothes at a clothing store, not the tent and awning shop so life is good.....we are just getting older (and better) and there is more of us to love! The bad news is, I weigh more now than I did when I was 9 mos pregnant with twins....but that was when I was young and thin, so on to bigger and better things in life!

Thank you for your kind words.

PinkGirl

Thanks Sheila. I have also gained about 40 lbs.
I lost weight on FAC and then started to gain
on the Taxol/Herceptin and then kept on gaining.

I am very frustrated with the weight gain. I don't
feel like myself.

Don't worry - the extra weight will not affect my
smart a$$ comments. I never seem to run out
of them - I actually hold back. There's a thread
about SUV's and I wanted to post about my Toyota.
I can't help myself.
