Yesterday I went in to get the results of my blood work and CT scan. Everything was fine. I am still showing the place on my left lung but onc says it is scar tissue from the radiation. He said I could now have my port out! I am excited, but for some reason worry about having the port removed. Maybe I look at it as some kind of security. I am scheduled to have it removed at Northside Hospital next week. Thank you all so much for all of your info over the past two years. Please let me know if there is anything I need to know about getting the port out. The doctor just said no big deal. May God give each of you peace and joy in this day.

Congratulations! I had the port out once in 2004. It is indeed no big deal. I am so happy for you.

Congratulations Nancy and don't worry about removal of the port. I had my first one removed and other than just being a little tender it was ok. All they do is give you some local anesthesia and a little twighlight drug and puff - the port is gone.

Congratulations! I had my port removed in January due to some problems with my vein. The surgeon did it in her office just with a local anesthetic. There was some tugging due to scar tissue but no pain involved. Best of luck to you!
Love,
Beth

Congrats Nancy! My port scar raises up and I notice it is there sometimes when the weather changes but other than that it is fine. Getting it out was a relief for me personally since my arms are pretty thin and it protruded out so much. I know that if I ever need it again it is not a problem to put one in.
Great news on your tests!
Hugs ~ Ruth

Thank you. No one can imagine how important these things are to us unless they have been there (like we all have). May God bless each of you this Easter weekend.
