I am currently getting Herceptin treatments - I have never heard of Tykerb - when I saw it listed here I googled it and found that it was approved for advanced breast cancer.

Is this only approved for advanced breast cancer? Do they use it with Herceptin?

I was looking at some of the trials and they listed Metastatic breast cancer and advanced breast cancer separately, I always assumed they were one in the same - what is the difference?

They are the same... Advanced is metastatic is recurrent is stage 4, etc, etc.

Tykerb is given to patients who have had herceptin and have recurrence.
There is a trial with Tykerb for early stagers who have not had herceptin,
and that data will not be available for a while. Tykerb is another drug
for us to use in case we have herceptin resistance. But as of this date it is not used as a front line med for Her2...
