Either way we have to stay away from this fruit.

This is interesting, Jean. I have avoided grapefruit since I started on cholesterol meds 2 years ago...one on the warnings on statins-no grapefruits or grapefruit juice!
Suzan,
I wonder why the onc. never give warning about this.
Thank you for mentioning the cholesterol meds, since my husband is on them and I did not know he should avoid grapefruit due to those meds.
Good Wishes,

Thanks, Jean - I saw that too and thought about posting, but am still trying to decorate!
Being ER negative, I will eat grapefruit ocassionally.
But less often as I don't buy it much since hubby's Lovastatin label says to "avoid grapefruit juice." We have known about this warning for at least 5 -6 years now.
I LOVE a broiled grapefruit half!

I used to love GF! But once I started coumadin after my mastectomy and port insertion (passport in my arm) I was told NO GF at all. And then I started Tykerb and again, no GF. So my GF days are over forever. Thanks for the link.

The only fruit tree I have is a grapefruit. :-(
But we almost never eat it.

Having had taken Tamoxifen for about 2 months, there is a warning about no grapefruit on that so I just never did - its not a fruit I ever ate much of.

I LOVE grapefruit but was told about 15 yrs ago when I started on some meds NOT to take it. I was disappointed because I love it. But haven't had any since. But thanks for the warning in case I was to get tempted. :)
