I got my PET/CT scan result today after 3 months of Navelbine and Herceptin for recurrence to mediastinal nodes and some suspecious spots in lung. The news is good. The report says everything got resolved.
No PET uptake. So my onc gave me two choices either go on low dose Navelbine and Herceptin or just Herceptin and scans after 8 weeks. I chose just Herceptin and she said she is comfortable with that option.
I am crossing my fingers and hoping I will remain NED. Thanks alot for all the good wishes.

My onc today mentioned trying me on navelbine and herceptin. How were the side effects? I am not quite sure what I will do next, he also wants me to get another opinion. Glad to hear of your clean scans! Hope to be able to say the same, soon! As far as staying on the single agent, my two cents: good choice - if needed you can always add back in the other. I was on herceptin for many months and felt fine! Blessings. Flori

Julie, That is fantastic news. I bet that made your day to hear it had all been resolved. :) Here's to herceptin keeping you in NED status. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that herceptin does the job and then some.

Hi Flori,
Looks like I am the odd person out regarding Navelbine side effects. I was on 3 weeks on 1 week off schedule and I had fever every week for two days. The fever starts exactly on the 3rd day and goes upto 101. Also the knee joint and feet pain(not much) and some fatigue. The counts always remained borderline low. I took Leukine on the 3rd cycle to boost the counts and it increased the fever a little more and made little queasy in the stomoch. My onc said these side effects are rare so you shouldn't be worried. Best of luck to you and wish this will be the miracle drug for you.

Julie,
I am very glad to hear of your great results after 3 months of Herceptin/Navelbine!! I just had my second weekly Navelbine treatment and am hoping for great results too. Hope you are able to stay on Herceptin alone for a long time. Lida

Your diagnosis was almost just like mine. Mediastinal nodes were positive and some suspicious lung light ups. After 4 months of Herceptin/Xeloda/Taxotere, I have been NED ever since. I take HErceptin weekly. Glad to hear your good news..sherryg
