Moms 2nd Muga

Hi all, My mom is going for another Muga , after the last one in August showed a slight drop in her number, So Onc gave her a month off herceptin. She is going Thursday the 20th, which is today for another muga. Please keep her in your prayers today and send good thoughts her way. thanks all. God Bless !

Hope this muga passes with flying colors for your Mom...if she does have to stay off Herceptin a while longer, don't let it upset you...it does stay in your system for some time, so she is still receiving some protection...keeping you both in my prayers.

Hi, I also pray that your mothers muga scan has great results. Does anybody know how often a muga scan should be given? Thank you Blanche

While you're on Herceptin you should have either a MUGA or echocardiogram every three months. The purpose is to check the LVEF (left ventricular ejection factor). If the LVEF drops to 50% or less then Herceptin must be stopped. Whether you have a MUGA or echocardiogram is stictly a doctor's preference. Although an echocardiogram is less invasive.
