Hi all
What a wonderful group!! I have been on Herceptin and Arimidex since
November. I had mild blood pressure problems when I began but took meds and it was under control. Now when I go in it is sky high and I don't know why. Could this be partly caused by either medication and if it is should I take more meds. Anyone have this problem? Before I see the Dr. tomarrow, I need to be informed.

I on the contrary had the opposite problem. My BP was usually too low. It has always been on the low side though, perhapse that is why.

Mine was high all through treatments and I finished herceptin last Nov but still have sky high bp...I take arimidex but the Dr has me on meds now for the high blood pressure so not sure if the arimidex is the culprit!

BY all means talk to your doc. My BP was always about 120/80. During treatment it got as high as 150/I forget. I finished Herceptin 9 months ago and my blood pressure was 112/70 today at my doctor's appointment. So hopefully when treatment is finished your BP will stabilize .

Hi
I had lots of blood pressure problems (high) during all of my treatments, including Herceptin. I am off treatments now and am on Arimidex. My blood pressure has been normal since finishing the Herceptin.

I don't know what caused it - maybe the drugs or maybe stress. My chemo nurse would tell me to take an Ativan; I would tell her that I already took one!!! Good luck with this.

I, too, have been worried about an increase in my blood pressure during this "journey". I have always had normal to lowish blood pressure, then it was as high as 139/100 during visits to all of the various doctors I have had to pleasure to meet during the last year. It was even elevated at the "very reliable" station in the grocery store. I had a stress exam by a cardiologist because of some ECG irregularities - this exam was unremarkable and the cardiologist did not seemed concerned by my blood pressure in the 120/90 range. I increased my exercise (walking with the black corgi in the foreground) and really tried to watch my sodium intake. Last week, 3 mos after completion of Herceptin, 3 mo after my reconstruction surgery, it was 110/70. Ahhhhh, that's better. My point: there may be a contribution by H, and certainly by stress. Exercise, relaxation, trust, faith, decreased sodium intake may be helpful.

I know Herceptin has an effect on blood pressure, but I forget if it causes an increase or a drop. I remember when I went to the oncs office to sign releases to receive it, the nurse told me that if I took bp meds, not to take them the day of an infusion. Hope this helps.
