Hi,

Fellow her2 gals, I have a dumb question. What does that FISH Her2 score mean? I understand that anything above 4 is positive, but what's the difference between say 4.7 and 9.6? Is it a prognosis indicator, like, the bigger the worse? or the other way around?

Thanks.

Joyluck

That's not such a dumb question. I don't think I have ever seen it mentioned here and I would also like to know.

There is a lot of information about what the scores mean in this thread: http://her2support.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=27209&referrerid=1173

but you have to keep reading all the way through it.

OK, here is what I found out:

1. Seems like there is "no evidence" so far indicates that higher FISH score means poorer prognosis.
2. Seems like some onc "believes" that higher Fish score means more responsiveness to herceptin.
3. Oncs generally ignore the score, since as long as you are positive, your treatment plan will include herceptin.
