If there is no place to put a port in the chest area where else can they put it??? I am thinking about asking to have my port removed and there is no place on the chest to put it. I am trying to get some info ahead of time for my oncologist. I am sure I will have to talk to the surgeon and he may have some ideas. I am sure I am not the only one in the situation. hugs, Sandy

Hi Sandy; Some people at my treatment center have had their ports in their arm just above the crook of the elbow...I've been told you have to be careful lifting. I've also heard they can be placed in the neck, but never talked to anyone with that situation.

I'm thinking of having mine moved also, but I have lymphedema in both arms now so it will have to be the other side of my chest or my neck. I want to have a "Power Port", which is designed to be able to take ALL contrast injections in addition to chemos. I don't want anymore sticks in my arm because of the lymphedema. The CT contrast injection last week really played hob with the lymphedema.

Are you having discomfort or problems with your port?
