Just wanted to let everyone know that I had my last Herceptin treatment today. I'm 3 infusions short of a year but I'm sure I'll be fine. Reason for stopping at this point is that my last echocardiogram showed some heart problems. My oncologist told me that with all the treatment(s) I've had since my diagnosis that I have a 20% chance of a recurrence in the first 2 years. I figure that's pretty good odds for being Stage IIIc.

Hey Kate,

Good for you! Here's hoping your heart bounces back quickly and you are able to bet back to your "normal" (whatever that is!) life soon!

Congratulations Kate. I am happy for you. I remember the day well. It feels good to visit the "docs" less often. Very good! Enjoy it.

yahoo, congrats!! Another friemd of mine just ender hers and she said she feels great. She did not realize how much the Herceptin affected her until she stopped. We have such a similar pathology and treatment that I always watch and see whats up with you.

Way to go Kate!! You've got to be doing the happy dance! Isn't it a great feeling to know that you were so strong and that you came thru great?

Continued good health to you, I always watch for your posts because of the similarity of our diagnosis.
Hugs

Kate,

Wow, what an achievement. Three short of a year sounds pretty good to me, and I'm sure with your evident thirst for knowledge you'll be keeping up with all the latest and doing the right thing to keep yourself healthy and strong.

Enjoy your well-deserved rest, NOT having to visit the hospital quite as often, and getting back some of your old life and some new life too.
Wishing you all the very best
Caroline

Congratulations. I also stopped after nine months due to heart issues and I feel comfortable with it, as you do. Celebrate. Celebrate.

It is so exciting that you are entering a new phase of your life and I'm sure you will be great at going forward rather than looking backward. I'd say you have fabulous odds. Not to mention the fact that you are smart and know how to research and keep up with all that is happening to make sure you are always helping yourself!

Don't be stranger around here-WE need your beautiful smile and encouragement! Of course if you wanted to take a looonnnggg break from everything having to do with BC, I think this gang would get that :).

Joy,

I doubt that I'll be taking a break from this board for quite some time. I must admit I'll enjoy my break from treatment! This board is filled with such knowledgeable women I want to make sure that I don't miss anything. Also, everyone has been so supportive of me that I want to give the same support to others.
