***Looking for fund raising ideas***

The company I work for is a flagship sponsor for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in this area. Several of us are looking for "fund raising event" ideas (we have a bake sale and thats about all) to help put us over the top...HELP!!!! Need some brainstorming. Thank you.

a) garage sale (if you advertise it as fund raiser you usually get alot of shoppers)

b) Home party consultants will usually donate a portion of their earnings for a big party (I just had a Premier jewelry party and consultant donated $160 to relay for life.)

c) Some private retail stores will allow you to put a jar or can by registers. You would be suprised how much you can get from this.

d) The candy bars from Sams club, my sister has had great success with selling these at a local hospital where she works (huge profit potential)

To get large donations from companies (go local) the key is you have to ask.

The PTO at my childs school just gave candle (Yankee Candle) brochures to the kids and they sold $ 28,500 worth of candles over a 2 week period. If you know a Yankee Candle distributor in your area, they should be able to hook you up. Of course we only get 40% of that. It was EASY and not too shabby for a project that barely made us lift a finger. Another company by the name of Cherrydale Farms has many products that schools sell and again, very easy to raise funds through sales. None of the sales are difficult and they all have very affordable items.

How about a silent auction or (I can't remember the name for it) the type of auction that is similar to a silent auction except you don't actually bid on the items....people buy tickets at the door (they can buy however many they want). If you're interested in an item you put as many of your tickets as you want in a basket in front of the item. Then a ticket is drawn out of each basket to see who wins the item.

Our relay for life team sold chances for 10.00 ea. Every month for a year, we drew a 50.00 winner and a 10.00 winner.....we made about $10,000 very quickly, and people had a chance to win 24 times as the names continually go back in. The chances were printed up for us (also a donation) with our relay team logo Hooter Pals on them...they sold like hotcakes!

Someone I know had a cocktail party and charged a $20 attendance fee. They also had a silent auction at the party.

The following are the most efficient ways that I have used to raise charity cash:

1) Do a hand car wash by donation

2) Organise a roulette/other forms of gamble night

3) Get a DJ & rent a hall for a dance

4) Rent a stand at at some kind of local fair/sporting event and sell something easy like popcorn or corn-on-the-cob or ice cream or hotdogs on your bar-b-que (my nephews 12 & 14 do this and make good cash)
