Hello Everyone -
FYI - Just perused our University of Washington alumni magazine (hubby is a grad) and came across a page with honors and grants for various professors there.

Of interest:
"Medicine Professor Mary "Nora" Disis, director of the UW Center for Translational Medicine in Women's Health, was names a "Superhero" by the Cancer Treatment Research Foundation Nov. 30. Disis, an expert on cancer immunology, received a $300,000 research grant from the Chicago-based nonprofit."

Anyone involved in the HER2 vaccine trials here will know that name!

And another less known, but highly regarded in her field, Mary-Claire King:

"Medicine and Genome Sciences Professor Mary-Claire King recieved the american Cancer Society's highest honor, the Medal of Honor, Nov. 30. The society gives the award annually to five americans who have made outstanding contributions to fighting cancer. King was recognized with the Medal of Honor for Clinical Research for her visionary work in delineating breast cancer genetics."

BRAVO for the potentially life-saving work by these dedicated women scientists.
