A journalist friend sent this along...please PM me and I will put you in touch...
Off the John Edwards story, I'm looking to interview other families in which one spouse had to make a decision about whether to pull back from a high-power career for a sick partner. Does anyone know anyone like that whom I could interview today (Friday) by midday?

...we "retired" Lisa but I kept working (if it were not for insurance I would have loved to stay by her side more)! Anyway, if your friend does not find a 100% "match" - I'd say I'm an 85%er...

Like in Mel's story, I gave up or was forced to give up a 6 figure career in order to deal with my cancer and get continuity of care. Some things are just more important than money!

I retired at 54 years old and took a big lose in my retirement but like Sheila said health is more important than money. Insurance was not an issue for me so I was very fortunate. Everyone is in a different situation. Have never regretted it although at the time my body was ready but mentally I wasn't. hugs, Sandy

Thanks for the article, Jen...The Portland Oregonian carried it although somewhat abbreviated, so it's nice to read the whole article and boy, it does hit home.
