I have a simple question. I had a lumpectomy with a reexcision for wider margins and a sentinel node biopsy almost 2 years ago. The node was negative. In the past 2 weeks I have experienced pain and stiffnes in that arm. At first I thought maybe it was phlebitis because it follows a narrowline from my wrist to my axilla. Now I am wondering if it is possible to get lymphedema from that sentinel node biopsy. Any one have an answer?
Thanks,
Marlys

The lymphatic system has been disrupted even with the removal of just one node so it is possible (but probably not probable).

Is it swollen? Does it feel better if elevated? If it feels better when the arm is hanging down off the side of the bed (or worse when trying to go to sleep) then it could be carpal tunnel too.

Any other symptoms?
