Bra Advise - can't find bra postings

Hi Ladies,

I remember someone writing about great bras that fit implants and do not have underwires. I can not find the thread and want to avoid useless bra shopping. I have large, wide, somewhat flat implants. I looked tonight and the ladies at the store looked at me like I had 3 heads.

Please let me know if you have found a good bra.

I think Sheila said she found some good bras that are very comfortable at Victoria's Secret - don't remember the name of the bra, but I think that there are no underwires - can't remember the thread either - but I'm sure if Sheila sees this she will write in again.

Caya is right in that Sheila recommended a bra from Victoria Secrets. It called the IPEX. Also Sandy had recommended a bra by Ameona called Elegant Contours (#2149).

Hi, I have been wearing the IPEX by Victoria's Secret for some time. However, I just bought 2 of the new Angels Secret Embrace push-up bras also by Victoria's Secret and I LOVE THEM. I have CLEAVAGE again. They are INCREDABLE!!!!!

I have a couple of bras by Aemona which have no underwires - I hate those things even though I am not large busted. Have somes sensitivity where the nodes were removed under my arm.

My Aemonas have a little pocket for a small "falsie" which evens out my lumpectomy if I choose to use it. They are long lasting and very comfortable. There were about 3 or 4 styles to try. Got them at Nordstorms.

It is the IPEX no underwire from Victoria's Secret...it is the first comfort I've had since having reconstruction with silicone implant. It is structured to give you lift without underwire. I tried the secret embrace that someone mentioned and YES it does give you cleavage, but with underwire....so the tradeoff for me is cleavage or comfort! I wear the secret embrace one for a special occasion or a lower cut top, but then I always wonder if I will feel the need to remove my bra at the height of the evening! Whereas with the IPEX, I could go 24 hours a day without pain. Just make sure you get the IPEX with NO underwire as they make a few different models. Like I said in my last thread, I called Victoria's Secret Marketing Dept. and told them they should be marketing this bra for "after reconstruction", they sent me a 40.00 gift card and a 30% off coupon for Victoria's Secret. I went out and bought 2 more IPEX bras in flashy colors!

Yes, I got mine from amoena they are expensive but my Medicare insurance paid for two and I purchased two off the internet. They come in three different colors. The two I purchased off the internet were much cheaper than what I got through the vendor at the hospital. These do have a wire on both sides under the arm so am not sure how that will be with some of you. I found the underwear under the arm necessary to keep the bra from riding up. I had mine professionally fitted and because I had a bil double mastectomy with graft to the chest wall they called in the supervisor of the vendor for her suggestion she wanted to be sure I got something comfortable. She even let me try wearing one for a week! Can't beat that. Then, she e-mails me 3 months later to be sure I am still happy with them and I am. Hope this helps you may have to just experiment. I like the idea of being able to try one from a professional to see if it will work for me. hugs, Sandy

Hi Ladies and Joe,

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your responses. Sometimes it is the little things that make a difference. Just a short while ago when diagnosed with Stage 4 bc I couldn't think of much that mattered to me aside from my 8-year old son. Now I want to travel, go to baseball games, eat, laugh, work and yes, wear a nice bra... I want all of the same things that "normal healthy" women want.

Imagine that! Thank you for being there and always inspiring me. I am keeping my fingers crossed that one of the bras fit. Otherwise I will go back to my stretchy bra.

Check with your insurance company also. I have GEM Care - Blue Cross and they will pay for 2 masectomy bras each year.
