Hi everyone
I am going to visit my sister in London in Jan and am planning to get a serum her 2 blood test done. Can any UK residents help me with some advice on where I can get this done and whether it costs. (Australia has reciprocal Medicare with UK).
Thankyou

Jackie I don't know as I live in Ireland but you may get an answer from www.cancerbuddiesnetwork.org if (http://www.cancerbuddiesnetwork.org if) no one else here can help.

This is a UK site recently started for all kinds of cancer and the founder herself had breast cancer so someone may be able to help there.
Good luck
Tricia

jackie,
At least one of the 4 or 5 authorized labs (in the USA) doing the serum HER-2 tests has an office & lab in West London: Quest Diagnostics.
You may contact that office for info. Its web site iis:
http://www.questdiagnostics.com/uk/index.html
Good luck.

P.S.:
Based on what the front page of their web site seems to imply, the test for HER-2 may be done at their California lab called the Nichols Institute.
Even if this is the case it is not an obstacle for a UK resident, as frozen serum specimens packed in dry ice are standard shipping procedures allowing a transit time of up to one week.
