I want to find out if having Herceptin prior would exclude some of us?

More on the trial:

We will discuss the elegibility with GSK while in San Antonio. Tykerb should be FDA approved for Stage IV by March, it could possibly be given "off label" to earlier stage patients.

San Antonio looks to have MANY answers. Take care and God bless.

are you going to see if they may NOT exclude patients that have had Herceptin? Thank you.

how long is your onc going to give it to you (i.e. Herceptin for a year which I now see a trial that is testing 6 mo vs 1 yr) or is he going to give it indefinately? Thank you.

I would also like to know if those who have had herceptin might someday be included in a Tykerb trial.

Great information. I emailed my onc as soon as I saw it! Thanks!!

As long as I pass the EKG and MUGA test, I'll be starting the adjuvant trial they're currently recruiting for after Christmas. It's for people diag. stage I-III who have completed treatment and are currently NED. One of the requirements is that you cannot have received herceptin. It's a random, double blind trial where you are radomized to either receive Tykerb or a placebo and neither your dr. nor you knows which you are receiving and you take it for one year. I was diag. in July 2002 and was unable to receive herceptin as I didn't qualify for a clinical trial so I'm very happy to hopefully being able to take part in this trial.

Pat, do you know a link to the trial? I tried to find it and couldn't find the trial. I guess we won't qualify for it if we took Herceptin. I would rather take it off label and know i'm getting it i guess. But i'm sure it won't be cheap

Hi Michele,

Here's the link http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00374322?order=1

I'm really hoping I get the Tykerb and will be disappointed if I don't. I guess if I get some sort of side effect I'll be able to tell. Being diag. Stage III I want to do all I can...

Take care,
Pat

I left a message on one of the test sites here in Greensboro asking about inclusion for post Herceptin patient. I got a call back very quickly from a man who took my information and said he would investigate and call me back this Monday the 18th. I hope he will have some good news...
tis the season for hope!

Kim,

Please let us all know what you learn when you are called back on Monday. I'm sure there are a lot of us Herceptin takers here who would be interested. Thank.
