I finished my year of Herceptin on June 21 and said I would update any changes after Herceptin. The 2 changes I can note, the first being the muscle ache/cramp I had the entire treatment is almost completely subsided. The 2nd (not sure if I am happy) is the return of my menustration. I was 39 at diagnosis sent into chemopause for 18 months & 6 weeks then this week I had PMS and a regular cycle. I am ER/PR- and have had differing opinions as to removal of ovaries this is not helping my decision, I was completely content in menopause.

The good news is that I am here to complain & consider all choices. And again, thank you all for your continued insight & support on my journey.

Mary,

Congratulations on finishing your year of Herceptin. I will be finishing mine next year. Since I started Herceptin I too have muscle/joint cramps pain. I also have a constant headache. Was sent for a brain MRI which I'm sure is fine. I thing the headache is just from the Herceptin. Did you have a constant headache while you were on Herceptin?

Mary,

Congrats on finishing your herceptin tx!! Woohoo! It's great to know that you are feeling better and that your body is getting back to normal. I can't wait to feel somewhat "normal" again!

Mary, congratulations on returning to "normal"! Only someone who has been through as much as you have can appreciate how nice it is to have only "normal" complaints. Take as much time as you need to make your next decisions...in the meantime, enjoy the knowledge that your body is on the road to recovery!

Best,
Chris

It is really helpful to see what changes go away after people come off herceptin, so we know what the side effects are (as opposed to the side effects of chemotherapy, chemopause, aromatase inhibitors, stress, aging and all of the other problems we are subject to).

Thank you for providing an update.

Congratulations from me, too. Freedom from oncology!! I have muscle cramps, especially in my rib cage area. Thought it might be arimidex. Now I wonder if it is Herceptin. I will have to wait until after March to know. What a long, strange trip this has been....MJO

Thank you for your update! Encouraging!!! I will be finished with a year of herceptin (every 3 weks) in Oct. and am also on Arimidex-5 years. Have had joint pain-pretty severe at times and am anxious to see if this goes away when I finish herceptin.

Thank you one & all!

Kate,

As for a constant headache I only had some sinus headaches for a few days after treatments. Hopefully, your headaches will subside and happy to hear your MRI is clear.

Congrats on being finished with Herceptain ! I find it so encouraging that the muscle aches went away - I am done right before Thanksgiving and i hope the muslce aches abate as well. I am so tired of hearing that Hercepain is "benign" Thanks for the updates.
