Have there been any men diagnosed with her2+ breast cancer? I was diagnosed with bc when my 22 year old daughter was in second grade. Her second grade teachers mother in-law had breast cancer and a few years later her husband was diagnosed with breast cancer and died. I heard that when men get breast cancer it is usually more agressive. Alot of times it is ignored because it is considered a womans disease.

There are at least two men in England who have her2 positive breast cancer. One of them had a hard time getting herceptin because his insurance company wouldn't pay http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/4600182.stm. I don't think it was just because he was a man, because that company was notoriously tight-fisted over herceptin.

Wasn't there also a man, I think from West Virginia, a few months back who posted on this board with her2 positive breast cancer?

It doesn't seem to be that common in men, though.

Hi Lu-ann

I know of one guy at my chemo ward with her2+ bc. He had Herceptin for 12 months, and as far as I know is doing well. He was about 40 years old when dx, and that is all the detail I have.

When I was in San Antonio they presented a case of a man being Her2 pos. also ER/PR pos. The oncologist had never heard of a man being on Herceptin. It was recommended for him to go on Herceptin and Tamoxifen. hugs, Sandy

I did see one man who is a member of this group in the members list, although I don't recall offhand the name.
