Tykerb Replacement

I was wondering. I am always trying to stay ahead of the game for my wife. we have worked our way through the wonder drugs. I think that is the goal to survive. Find something that works long enough to move on to the next drug. Herceptin is that drug for us now and it sounds like Lapatinib(Tykerb) will be the next. Does anyone kknow if there is a successor for Tykerb in research?

There is a drug being studied by genentech called Omnitarg that is in very early trials. i can't remember the specifics but it hits more than just the her 2 receptor. But I think this is a number of years away.

omni: means "all"
targ: short for target means " a mark to shoot for"

so when putting it all together, it means " to shoot for ALL targets"

I have been very busy since returning from ASCO. My 14 yr old daughter had a bad asthma attack (Thursday morning 6/8 and I had just returned from ASCO on 2 days before) and was in the hospital for 6 days (at day 3 was transferred from our local (Hunterdon Medical Center) to St. Peter's in New Brunswick). So we have been going alittle nuts in the Hollis household. All is well now and she has been home since Tuesday night. I have gone on but not posted much. That said, I want to write a "write up" of what I learned that has not been posted by Al and others (ie: the paper I saw on the benefit of a taxane for Her2+ and triple negative bc etc). Another is the new molecules coming out from Genentech and Glaxo. I will do this in the next couple of days and post for everyone.

Thank you so much for that!! I hope your daughter outgrows her asthma. My son had very bad asthma but when I moved east from the prairies it cleared up immediately....thank goodness. I have also heard of age having a similar result. It is so scary for her and all of you.

I think omnitarg = pertuzumab, a HER1,2,3 inhibitor. Not sure about the molecular weight though or if it crosses the blood-brain barrier.

I had mentioned Omnitarg to my onc a while back when I saw that a clinical trial with Iressa and one other drug blasted away liver mets. He indicated that he thought it might be on the in reach within 2 years time.

So who knows....

I have been away from this site for a short period of time due to my mother in laws illness. Since I have been back I have seen many references to Tykerneb and I would like to know more about it. Could anyone give me a breif summary or direct me to where I could get one?
