My MIR yesterday confimed what the pet scan said about my hip lighting up, also my lumbar. I had a pet scan and a c-scan on Wed. the C-scan is what showed that my lung met was again growing. These test were ordered by my radiation Dr., as a follow up to the radiation on my lung met last Nov. and Dec. Which didn't work. So now that we have all the test results I will being going back to my oncologist next week to come up with a game plan. I have reservations for the end of July for a cruise. We are taking are grown kids and 7 grandkids. I made these plans while I was feeling good and was stable. I know that my health should come first but this is really important to me. I don't want to feel bad on the cruise. I don't want my grandkids to remember me as a sickly old woman. Just last week I kept a couple of grandkids and we had a squirt gun fight and rode bikes down the hill and then I took them to a go-cart place and even road go-carts with them. I plan on snorkling with them on the cruise. This cancer is really messing up my plans. I know this all sounds petty but it's what's on my mind right now. Patty H

Patty... "petty"???? Hell no, NOT petty at all!!!! I'd be fumming and trying to figure out a plan of attack as well, that lets you do the cruise up in style.
Damn!!!!
Are you still feeling ok?? Having good QOL regularly?? Then I'd try some treatment with low potential side effects, atleast until AFTER your planned adventures. But, that's just me...
I'm asymptomatic currently from the eight brain mets that show up on MRi: "stable". And I am still on a chemo break, heading into my third month off all tx's...
You do what in your heart feels best/right/good for you in the big picture.

Patty,
I would have a serious talk with your oncologist about how you can plan your treatment and include that cruise and feel decent while you are on it. It may mean that you need to take a few weeks break, but I believe in the long term that having a fun adventure and building memories is worth it and will also have a positive effect on your health.
Best wishes,
Barbara

Patty, it isn't petty at all. I don't blame you for wanting to build beautiful lively memories for you and your family. Nothing replaces that. Work something out with your onc so you can do this cruise. I would feel the same exact way and remember, good happy things help heal.

Patty,
Go on the cruise! When you meet with your onc, make it clear that an important part of your game plan is that you can, if at all possible, take this trip! You may be able to take a break, low dose, or time treatments around the trip. As Al said, having all your family wrapping their love and joy around you on this trip will do WONDERS for your immune system! Even if you're not feeling 100%, you will certainly have laughter and love and some memorable times - that's a memory that will be cherished by all.
Good luck
Chris
