Hi All;
My oncologist ordered the Serum HER-2/neu Elisa after I brought him the information Dr. Carney posted for us; received the results today.....
12.7 - in the normal range!
I'm still on Herceptin/Navelbine weekly, Xeloda 2 x's daily. He says we'll repeat the Serum test monthly for 3 months, then decide what it all means ;)

Oh -That is wonderful!
Hope this is a sure sign that your current treatment is working and will allow you to get off the chemo soon.

Great news Lolly, it seems you have everything under control.
Stephanie have you done this test as well? How is going with the Vaccine? I'll try to get some info next time I'll come for my follow-up.
Big hug,
Kim in CA

That's wonderful Lolly!
I too had my serum test and the results were normal(just barely though, 14.9) After months and months of watching my CA15-3 climb, I was really starting to worry. They were almost out of normal range at 28.2 and I just knew they were going to keep rising. Then, 3 weeks ago they dropped back down to what seems to be the normal range for me (high teens to low twenties). I will be curious to see what my next Her2 Serum results are. My Onc has no problem with using it as another monitoring tool.
It wish I knew what causes these fluctuations. I still feel like the Her2 Vaccine must be doing something for me, but I have added some other things to my supplement list recently, so who knows what's what! I'm certainly not complaining though!

Hi Sherri -
Yes, I had the HER2 serum test in January. My number was something like 8, if I recall without looking it up.
And I am going through all the eligibility list for the DNA vaccine trial. Had my MUGA yesterday and my ANA/immune system blood work drawn today.
They have to get a FISH done on my tumor block, and I don't know how long that will take. Otherwise, I am just about "there."
I also had a chest/abdoman CT today and see my med onc on Monday for all the results. Brain followups next week.
Hope to see you soon.
Kim - I am really glad the markers are getting better for you. Keep it up, kid! Must be the horses giving some good instructions to your body!

I wish I had an onc like you guys do! I showed the brochure on the Bayer serum test and some printouts of other wonderful information on this site to my onc today and she dismissed it out of hand. In fact, she said I was drowning myself in information and does not believe in serum tumor markers.
I'm so happy for all of you who are getting good reports!!
Could you explain who would have this test and what levels does it give?
Does it give levels for her2nue?
Please Advise,
Many thanks,
Jean
Please disregard earlier post - got the link to the onco gene website and have the information.
Thx,
Jean
