Hi everyone.

I have been reading the other threads regarding bone ache during herceptin.

I had terrible rib pain and back pain under taxol, but usually lasted two to three days and slowly came down till next treatment

Now that I am under herceptin alone every three weeks, I'm experiencing lots of the same. It's very scary because you normally default to bone mets.

I am trying yoga, walking and ibuprofen. sometime vicodent or ativan when pain is hard at end of day. I am also taking l glutamine and b complex for this. I rub flexall on joint aches, seems to help a little ( smell is quite powerful http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin/images/smilies/smile.gif )

After reading the other threads, I'm convinced that it is herceptin and will be writing a letter to Genentech to let them know. My onc, just like many others, doesn't know about this stuff yet to comment on this. Not everything is known about this now.

I did read on another thread about glucosamine and chronditin. Is this ok to take while on herceptin? How much is anyone out here taking it and did it work and how long till you saw improvement.

I hope you can give me some insight. Thanks to all

XO

I have been taking glucosamine chondritin during all of my chemo and Herceptin. I have not have the bone and joint pain and don't know if this is helping it. I have been taking this supplement for a long time due to a chronic hip condition.

I have chronic back pain due to a lumbar spinal fusion and my neurologist recommended glucosamine and I found that it really does help.

I use to take it for my fibromyalgia but found that Flaxseed oil takes care of my bone pain. I decided to take the Flaxseed as it is wonderful for my skin, hair, and nails. It may not be for everyone as I am ER/PR neg. I don't worry about it. It works the same day I take it. As for the other the doctor told me it would be a couple of months before it worked and he was right. One has to keep increasing the dose until you find what works for you. Hope this helps. hugs, Sandy

Thank you.

I went to costco and bought glucosamine ( 1500mg tablet). Been taking it for a few days ( one tablet a day). it helps at beginning of day but by end, I'm hurting! we'll see.

XO to you
