View Full Version : How important is PR status?

Dear friends,

It seems that PR status is always mentioned in pathology etc...but not really every treated as much of a factor like ER status. I am 75% ER+, but considered PR negative at 4%. Does this really mean anything? Thank you in advance.

I don't know much about them being neg myself. I read something the other day about the pr having some affect on how the hormone blockers worked and made some more responsive than others.I'm not sure where I saw it. I'll try to find it and get the site to you.

Yeah, I think it does matter if you are er+ but pr-. This is a growing (and I think convincing) body of evidence that suggests that this subgroup of women with her2 positive disease should think particularly hard about using Arimidex or Femara instead of Tamoxifen as their endocrine therapy. It's not yet clear to me if this is because they are particularly resistant to Tamoxifen, or particularly aided by the aromatase inhibitors, but in any case it seems pretty clear of a choice now...
