Well, I am off to start my taxol tx today. I am very apprehensive and my heart rate is already up! Please say a prayer for me that all goes well! It kinda stinks the day before Thanksgiving and all. I really like to eat a lot!!

I found Taxol to be very tolerable. The only problem I had was bone pain, which was very painful after the first infusion. I actally think it was a combination of the Taxol and Nulasta. The second time around, I was prepared; I took 4mg of Decadron in the morning and evening as well as a Zyrtec (antihistimine sp?). I took this combo of pills for the remainder of my treatment and I had no bone pain after that. All the women in my support group did the same thing and had no problem with Taxol. Later in the treatment, I did notice, food did not taste the same. Actually, it didn't taste at all, but that didn't happen until after the 2nd treatment.

I had carboplatin with my Taxol so I didn't tolerate it too well but the others I knew that just had taxol did very well so good luck and have a great holliday!

Lexi, it's been a few years since I did Taxol, but I remember feeling it was so tolerable aside from the "aches and pains" which meds took care of. Hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving meal :)

If you are taking the taxol every three weeks and are having severe side effects, you might ask to take the treatment weekly. I was on taxol, carboplatin, and herceptin 3 weeks on and 1 off with minimal side effects. I lost about 80% of my hair and it started growing back after the 3rd month of treatment. Thanks to all for your replies. I had my 1st taxol yesterday and today I am feeling ok. I have a slight metallic taste in my mouth and I am starting to feel a little bit achey. Not nearly as bad as what I thought. I do pray for the rest of my txs to go so well! If they don't, I will just have to chin up and put on heavier armor to battle this stinky disease!

Lexi, be sure and stay on top of the aches and pains; I was told to take Tylenol as needed, it really helped take the edge off. If it's not enough, be sure and let your med team know, as there are other meds that can help.
