I don't have skin mets, but I do have mets to my spine. I experience itching in my back, which is hard to reach.

Linda,
While on Xeloda, my skin mets became very itchy. My Onc. perscribed these mediciated "bandages". I can't remember the name of them. They were prescription only. My husband will be back at our house for lunch. I will have him check and then I will post again. I empathize with you. The itchy-ness can get to be a real bother.

Have you tried Miltex? This is a tough one because I always wonder what I should use and not use because of what chemicals make the mets worse. I stay with a natural aloe cream or use the Miltex. If you don't have the Miltex it takes a while to get it and lots of paperwork involved. It works good for the itching and burning but then it causes burning after a while and one has to stop and give the skin a break. When that happens its horrible burning and itching. I guess each one has to keep trying things to see what works for them. I have used the aloe plant and that works for a while. Good luck, hugs, Sandy
Hi, have you tried an anti-histamine? I kept getting an itchy crawling feel where I had radiation and it felt like it was under the skin and the anti-histamine worked fine. I too have just started to itch on my breast skin mets and I don't know if it is a remnant of the radiation or a side effect from the Xeloda and oral Cyclophosomide I am taking, it isn't enough to bother me YET!!!

Linda,
Sorry it has taken me two days to get back to you. The "patches" that my Onc. prescribed for me called Lidoderm, Lidocaine Patch 5%. The size of the patch was 10cm x 14 cm. I had a small area, so I cut the patch into 3 separate strips. There was definitely relief for me. One are was where my bra or tank would "rub", the patch eliminated that discomfort.
It's by perscription only. The package says: Lidocaine....700mg (50 mg. pergram adhesive) in a aqueous base. Methylparaben and propylparaben as preservatives.
HOPE this helps. God Bless.
