Hi Everyone,
My mother-in-law had bc 5 and a half years ago (stage 1). This summer she had a recurrence (again Stage 1). For both she had lumpectomies and radiation and no chemo. She was on Tamoxifan the first time and stopped within a month as she didn't like how it made her feel. After this recurrence, they have her on Arimedex for 5 years.

My question is this... She is Her2+. I and her daughter, have pushed her to talk to her drs. about Herceptin. SHe is hesitant for some reason. She said she went to one appt. for 45 mins and he didn't bring it up. Shouldn't she????? I can't imagine why she doesn't want to do it. Is it not becoming standard??????

My backgound.....I was diagnosed in December 2004 with Stage I, node neg, grade 3, ER//PR-, Her2+. Bilateral mastectomy and I had AC/Taxol and am now on Herceptin every 3 weeks.

Thanks for your input

Olivia

It is standard for bc metastasis of Her2+++ women. It is just starting to be used for Her2+++ women with pos nodes, but no mets. Does your mother-in-law fit either category? Why not ask your once what he/she thinks?

Love and light,
