Hi all I am trying to better understand estrogen neg tumors and how they relate to grade. I have posted on several boards in a poll like fashion. If you are estrogen neg could you please list your grade? Thanks for the help.

Sorry guess I should have explained myself. I am in a dilema. I was diagnosed at 35 with stage 1 7mm tumor that is er-/pr- and her2 + by IHC. I am a low grade 2 by SBR. I have been told by my onc that I need to retest the tumor to confirm by FISH before I have herceptin as there is a 10% chance that the IHC is wrong...he did say however don't get your hopes up. Here is the dilema. I have found that everyone I talk to is a grade 3. If I am er+ ...which I suspect...that allows me all the hormonal treatments after treatment. The dilema....my tumor is to small to retest both her2+...which is obviously very important...and er status. My onc also said that er status is the nuber one test that is misread and he has found it is often wrong. No standard accross the board I guess. Any way dare I hope? These dicisions are so tricky. Thanks for your reply and help.. Knowledge is power as they say.

Ok just wanted to let you all know how it is going...if anyone is interrested. It is 10 am here in ca and I have had aobut 20 people aready take my polls on different boards around the world and I have found that of that 20 all are grade 3 except for one individual who is a grade 2 like myself. Hmmm....I see a trend. Am curious to see what happens by the end of the day. Thanks for your participation.

ER negative, but grade 2 (tested twice), although I have been told that it acts like a grade 3. HER2+++ .

I am er+95% and pr+10% and grade 3. I have been told that grade 3 is the most common grade in young women and it has nothing to do with er/pr status. Also, the 5 women in my support group who are her2 + are also grade 3 and er/pr+

Hi, I am er- and pr- with an intermediate grade tumor. I assume that is a grade 2. I hope this helps. Oh, I had my er and pr tested 3 times. 2 times both came back - and one time (2nd time) my er was - but they said my pr was low positive which is why I had it tested a 3 rd time. My Oncs consider me neg.

I am not sure everybody is reporting their tumor nuclear grade or the aggregate grade like SBR. My nuclear grade is 3 but the SBR grade is 2 as they had found only few mitoses.

Wow good thought Julie. I hadn't thought of that. I just assumed that everyone would report the SBR grade.
