Another worry

My husband just found out his cousin, his mother's sister's daughter had a mastectomy this week, 42, with 2 little girls. We have a 15 1/2 year old daughter so now BC on both sides. His other aunt died this year of bowel cancer aged 52, she refused treatment, his grandmother same side also died of bowel cancer but almost 80 at the time. One of my friends has just flown to New Zealand to be with her mother who has breast cancer to find out that her sister about 40 also has it. She had a breast reduction done some 13 years ago, so I don't know if this has helped her. My other friend was diagnosed at 40 with chron's disease and her daughter was diagnosed at 19 and her disease was worse requiring surgery. It seems that the big C and diseases are hitting our daughters, the next genertions at a younger age. It is now vital that we find a cure before our daughters reach that age and are at risk. How can we get BC off our minds when just about every second person we talk to has or knows some with it or some form of C.

Lyn if you are that concern about your daughter and righly so because I would be also, you can have the BRAC1 and 11 done to see at what risk they are at. I have know a few people who have had it done. Their daughters were older but it helped them by being able to do something before it got to them. One person would not have it done as their daughter did not want to know. Everyone is different. Something to think about. Its DNA testing and is done quite often these days. Hugs, Sandy
