I take a "B 100" complex vitamin along with my multiple to help counter act the neuropathy left over from Taxol and Navelbine; my oncology nurse suggested this. Some take additional amounts of B6 and/or B12 but I don't know how much is advisable.
Hi, Jo-Jo
Supplements are complex. I am reading these posts quickly, I personally do not advocate excessive B-6. There is some research that suggests it can block oleic acid which actually may be good for her-2 folks. I tend to lean towards the following basics: Vitamin A & D as in fish oil; Evening Primrose Oil, small amount of Kelp; lots of magnesium in food and supplements; one basic multi-vitamin not over done with the B's or too much calcium...there is a lot of evidence coming out now about the dangers of free calcium to cancer patients...free calcium being that which in ingested in supplements, not from normal food.... I also take olive LEAF capsules...not extract alone. And rub 40% zinc oxide as found in desitin on my feet before bed. I find epsom salt baths (mag rich) and echinachea tea with pure honey helpful. As for B-12, it depends if you are a vegan/vegetarian, have p. anemia or not or if you suffer from certain types of compulsive/obsessive disorders, or are a recovering alcoholic...for which extra B-12 is very good. I, personally, take no more B-12 than is in my multi, but then, I am a carnivore...smile, so I get plenty of B-12 in meat and eggs.
I have a wild diet supplemental program you can read about elsewhere in these posts or if you are interested, just shoot me a quick email to my home at GPOPP@Comcast.net and I will cut and paste and send to you direct for whatever it is worth...would love feedback if you try any of it.
If you do email me...let me know your exact DX as it makes a big difference in what you should be doing...
Best regards, Gina
