Hi All,

My name is Alan and I would like to recommend and hear your thoughts about a website I have recently launched called Doctors911.com (http://www.doctors911.com).

Doctors911 is a doctors' directory (Find a Physician type of website) that also provides reviews on doctors and allows you to rate your own doctors. We believe that sharing such information will better our health services in the long run and provide us, as a community, a very valuable information in the short term.

I came up with the idea once I moved to CA. I needed to see a doctor but knew nobody that could refer me to a good one. Although I could even read reviews on toasters on the net I could find almost nothing on doctors in my area.

I would appreciate it if you take a look and let me know your thoughts about the site and the idea in general. It's quite at its begining and there's still a lot of work ahead of me, but at least it's a start.

Thank you!
Alan

PS - some people will consider this post spam. I truly appologize in advance since this is not my aim.

Alan,

I believe many of us on this site would utilize this website as one of the references in finding a doctor. Of course, word-of-mouth is always the best reference, but as you experienced, sometimes you move and know noone. My only hesitation would be if you accept advertising. Then I'm not sure I'd trust the reviews.

I assume you would add Oncology to your list?

Love and light,

Lisa

Alan~
I find it very curious that you are targeting our site for feedback (& encouraging us to use your site, no doubt) without having a true sense of our special interest & needs as a Her2 Support Group...there's no link for "oncology".

Your posting appears opportunistic. Sorry, but you asked for feedback.

Hi Lisa,

"Oncology" is one click away after "Internal Medicine". I guess I got my feedback if you could not find it (and you were not the only one).

Regarding advertising, I have been thinking about it but didn't do it until now just for the same reason you have specified:
Having ads or sponsors doesn't mean the reviews are not objective as long as the site does not promote one doctor over another - which is completly NOT what I'm aiming for here. But as you said, it doesn't look good.

Here's a direct link to Oncology Doctors (http://www.doctors911.com/find-doctor/specialty-medical-oncology-73.html).

Thanks Lisa!

Hi Jessica,

Thank you for being honest and streight with me.

I actually did not include a link to Oncology in order to see if it can be found easily. Judging from your reply and from Lisa's I take it that my homepage is not intuitive enough...

Regarding me being opportunistic. I guess you can look at that this way. but the truth is that I really believe in Doctors911 and I believe it will help people if they only knew about it.

So right now I'm working on 2 things: making it better and letting people know about it - hence the feedback request.

Here's a link to Oncology Doctors (http://www.doctors911.com/find-doctor/specialty-medical-oncology-73.html).

Thank you!

Alan

CHECK THIS OUT - This is off the NY State Puplic records homepage. I don't know if all states have it, but they should...

Check out this site. This one you have to pay for the report, but it has hospitals and nursing homes besides physicians. http://www.healthgrades.com/

I know you are going for a more personal opinion of the doctors, but I think knowing about thier education and malpractice suits is a good place to start.

I couldn't agree more. I actually got the information on Doctors911.com from the NY State Public records office and I plan on adding malpractice information to site soon (so much work, so little time...)
