Good Evening Ladies...

I have just recieved my first weekly dose of Herceptin... all is well so far, except for a headache and tummy ache...

I have seen many things about the CO Q10.... and I really want to being taking it after I go over it with my doctor... what dose do you reccommend? Ive seen all doses from 50mg to 120mg....

I want to do whatever I can to continue with Herceptin.. I have been all over the charts with my MUGA resulst begining at time of diagnoses, with a 58 then after AC / Taxol, dropping to a 42. I was up to a 53 then went back to work full time and dropped to a 48 (cant tell me stress has no impact on ones body) but now thankfully I am back to a 52. But dont want to drop under 50....

Any thoughts?

I also take flax seed oil pills, multi vitamin, calcium, b12 and iron.

Thanks Bunches!!!!

Shan

300mg to 400mg a day seems to be the dose used in various trials.

I would build up gradually from 100 mg/day. You may notice a little insomnia at higher doses. It has a half life of 30 hours in the body.

Stupid question but what is a half life compared to a whole one? (That sounds even stupider in writing!) I know I should know but I don't.

Half-life is the time it takes for the concentration of the drug to reduce to 50% of its original concentration in the bloodstream. Half-lives are averages and can vary considerably between individuals as we all tend to metabolise things differently.

Thus if you had 200mg of a drug circulating around you from one dose, roughly 30 hours later that would have fallen to 100mg, 30 hours later to 50mg, 30 hours later to 25mg etc

This is why sometimes when they give you drugs they give a higher initial 'loading dose'. Then doses afterwards are timed to keep topping up the amount that remains in circulation.
