Why do the trials always exclude brain mets people?

Because Trials are for getting a drug approved - which in turn makes money for the pharmaceutical company. The better the numbers, the more likely the drug will be approved. Unfortunately, brain mets and late stage cancers do not make for good numbers...

A new vaccine trial for stable mets patients, including brain mets, will be opening at University of Washington hopefully by this fall. It will be a DNA vaccine, as opposed to the CTL vaccine which I'm receiving, but the great advantage is that one need NOT be HLA-A2 positive, so more of us will qualify for this one. I think concurrent Herceptin is required, but contact Patty Fintak for more info: (206)543-6620.

O-o-o-o-h! Thanks Lolly!
Maybe this is a vaccine I can finally qualify for!
I will be on this one ASAP ...
I don't see my med onc until July, but will be getting some details right away.

I've posted this info on the Trials board also; was too tired from the trip and all my new duties as parent-sitter to do so the other day!
