Hi everyone,

Can some of you give a description of what your skin mets looked like when they presented themselves? I have this bump pump on my arm that is starting to freak me out. I don't know what it is and now that I am out of treatment and no longer looked at closely....I'd appreciate your experience. I had a mastectomy and this bump is on the same arm as the surgery but pretty far down.

Thank you! Ruth

Ruth - my skin mets presented as what looked like a rash on my left affected breast. It looked like a collection of red dots. However, a biopsy
showed them to be skin mets. Good luck to you. CathyB

Ruth,
My skin mets are now on both shoulders, breasts, and on my chest. All are inflamed, bumpy (small) , and itchy. I started chemo of Taxotere today, again, had it 2 yrs. ago, was suppossed to also start Herceptin, & Carboplatin. but they will only be added if needed. Positive thoughts. V

Ruth,

With the bump being pretty far down on your arm I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. If you have no other areas of redness or itchiness, it could well be nothing of concern. Having said that, in this game of "beating cancer", you should still tell your onc. about it.

My skin mets appeared as a rash on my chest. My Hyperthermia radiation treatments are winding down to a close now. Only 2 1/2 more weeks to go. Everything looks cleared up now, but only time will tell.

Good luck to you. Keep in touch.

Cindi.

Hi Ruth, I have had skin mets twice before. First on chest above scar line and it was started out as a small red patch and got bigger, the biopsy proved positive and the tissue was used was used for the HER2 test which came back positive 3. Xeloda got rid of it. Then another came up behind my ear down the side of my neck same side while on still on Xeloda so changed to Navelbine with Herceptin for lump and got rid of both. Now I have another I think where my latest lump on the other side of my neck has been treated, but problem is I have had heaps of radiation to that area, and symptoms are reddy purple and itchy and the area has always been thick and hard since getting lump, lump gone but still thick and hard so I will see my doc on Monday and in the meantime nappy rash cream has been working so hopefully nothing, but knowing me it is never nothing and at the moment I have been enjoying NED for the last 2 weeks.

Love & Hugs Lyn
